We collect as little as we can. Here is all of it, in plain words.
What stays on your device
Your journal answers, the ideas you save, your sound mixes and volume, your breathing settings and your hemisphere setting are kept in your own browser, on your own device. They’re never sent to us, so we can’t see them. They won’t appear on your other devices, and clearing your browser’s data erases them.
If you choose “Remember my birthday on this device”, your date of birth is saved the same way, in your browser only, so the birthday tools can use it. It’s never sent to us. Checking someone else’s birthday doesn’t replace it unless you choose to, and “Forget my birthday” removes it at any time. A keepsake made for someone else, and the name on it, aren’t saved at all.
What we count
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits: which pages are viewed, which site you came from, and broad details like your country and the type of device and browser. It uses no cookies, doesn’t fingerprint you, and doesn’t follow you across other websites. We use these numbers to learn which tools are helpful.
If you join the sync waitlist
If you join the waitlist for journal sync, you give us your email address through a form run by Tally. Tally is based in Belgium and stores form data in Europe.
- We use your email only to tell you when sync is ready.
- We won’t add you to any newsletter, and we never sell or share your address.
- To leave the waitlist or have your email deleted, write to [email protected] and we’ll delete it from Tally. Tally removes deleted data from its backups within 90 days.
Running the website
Like almost every website, pages reach you through a few services that see basic technical details, such as your IP address and browser, while delivering them.
- Cloudflare protects the site and delivers it quickly.
- Our server is a Hostinger VPS in the United States. It keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser) for 14 days to keep the site secure and fix errors, then deletes them. The server’s weekly backups can hold a copy of these logs for up to two weeks more.
What we don’t do
No ads. No advertising or tracking cookies. No accounts. We don’t sell or share personal information.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at any time: write to [email protected]. If you’re in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
